Creole Conjure Rootwork is a company that provides spiritual work, healing, and readings. I got where I am today because I was passed down a craft from my ancestors. I also worked hard to develop my gifts and talents. My business is a spiritual service, my position and role is a Voodoo / Hoodoo priestess. I do life improving and changing spiritual healing as well as spiritual readings. I am Louisiana Creole of color. I descend from Creoles that were already in Louisiana and also the Creoles of Haiti and Cuba that migrated to New Orleans. My expertise and business stems from gifts, knowledge of herbs, and spirituality that were handed down by my elders. What I do is kind of like a gumbo. It has West African origins from my ancestors that hailed from Senegambia, Benin, Nigeria, and the Congo; as well Native American traditions. I not only do this as a business but to continue the African religious tradition of spirituality and healing to our people. People get a negative misconception from television and media about African Traditional Religion. I am here to break stereotypes about the spirituality of our ancestors. I am young, black, and college educated. However, there is nothing else I would rather be doing with my life and time right now. We are in the age of black consciousness.
Has it been a smooth road?
Somewhat. Only issue I have is marketing. It is difficult to market my services due to stereotypes and misconceptions of what it is I do.

As stated, Creole Conjure Rootwork is a spiritual company. I do spiritual work to improve almost every life situation. I also carry and make candles, botanical items, herbs, spiritual jars, dolls, oils, spiritual bathes. I give readings with are to give insight and counsel into the lives of my clients. I am known throughout the US and other countries as well to craft mojo bags to improve luck and gambling winnings. I am also known for my healing abilities for the sick and ailing. What sets me apart is the fact that I grew up in South. Out of every area in the US Louisiana has a most thriving African Diaspora Culture. What I do was passed to me. I did not just wake up one morning and decide to do what I do. I was chose. I also do not mass produce my products. My clients are important to me and I take my time to craft each and everything for that specific issue and client.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the fact that when I go to Atlanta my clients are ready to get down to business and know what it is that they want. There are also so many different places that I can book for appointments and meetings with clients.

All my ancestors, old Creole Aunts and Uncles. My great grandfather Morris L. Sam that told me what a “Damballah” was after hearing it in an older Zydeco song. Thanks to distant cousin Andre “Beau Jocque” Espree for making that said song.
